PROSOPA RESTAURANT

An old glass factory was converted to a contemporary restaurant with a distinctive urban identity. Inspired by the particular aura of its neighborhood in downtown Athens, Prosopa Restaurant has a strong character of its own. 

Situated opposite the railway tracks, Prosopa stands out for being simple and subtle. Its rather minimalist and low-key facade is dominated by the large, industrial style windows, allowing natural light to flood the interior during the day, offering great urban views to the railway tracks by night. Prosopa seems to have been there forever, blending in perfectly with its industrial surroundings. Old factories, and abandoned small workshops abound in the area, inspiring Alexandros Tsikordanos of 360 Concept Design Studio to create a contemporary space in harmony with its industrial past and its urban surroundings.

Prosopa is divided into two main areas – both with double-height ceilings – that connect through a corridor with exposed brickwork. The Bar is located in one of the two areas, while the restaurant is to be found in the other. Both areas enjoy views to the city through the large industrial-style windows that almost cover both facades. The choice of materials – like steel, cement flooring, bricks and wood – adds up to the space’s industrial character.

The area of Prosopa is known for its bohemian and artistic flair, and this is clearly reflected in the interior design. On most of the walls there are graphic illustrations and messages in bold typography that create an overall urban feel. Contemporary design icons, pieces signed by great designers of our time, complement the interiors, as well as the carefully selected color palette which is focused around numerous shades of gray.

Prosopa, in the center of Athens, is a contemporary space, a fine urban set, where creative cuisine is served to an artistic and certainly discerning crowd of foodies.
